summer in the city sale shopping

don’t know if any of you are in the NYC area, but zachary’s smile (a vintage store in the city that also has it’s own line of restyled clothing made from vintage materials) and i heart (my favorite boutique in NYC, which is located in nolita and features designers like eley kishimoto, jessica ogden, sonia rykiel, united bamboo, cacharel, and more) are both having summer sales! among a decently sized pile of choice items, i scored the crochet-trimmed knit top @ i heart, and the faux-patchwork print skirt at zachary’s smile (belt and necklace are thrifted).

sale booty!

according to the emails i received and first-hand observation yesterday, i heart has some select merchandise at 70% off, and zachary’s smile has tons of vintage and ZS original styles at a pretty steep discount. to quote zachary’s smile’s email:

“- Spring and Fall fashions for Men & Women
- Tons of ZS originals at unheard of prices!
- Vintage clothing:
Tops $5 - $20 (originally $35 - 75)
Dresses $10 - 35 (originally $95 - 125)
Skirts $10 - 20 (originally $45 - 85)
Blazers $10 - 20 (originally $55 - 85)
Coats $20 - 50 (originally $165 - 245)
Bags $10 - 20 (originally $45 - 85)”

***

i love this time of year, simply for the huge pre-fall sales, when all the great local stores offload their spring merchandise at cheaper, more palatable prices! even if we have to risk heat stroke to get to them…hah.

  1. saw about zachary’s smile in this week’s timeout and thought it would be a perfect way to spend my halfday! didn’t know about i heart though. will have to make the afternoon of it! yay for end of season prices!

  2. yeah, that’s pretty much the best outfit ever.

  3. That’s a freakin’ sweet shirt, I love it.

  4. nice scores! i especially love the shirt.

i don’t know of the stores you mentioned (i’m in canada) but does that vintage store really sell vintage clothes for upwards of $245 regularly? eep!! perhaps that is the price of their re-styled line which would make more sense. otherwise, $95 seems awfully pricey for a vintage dress. but maybe that’s because i just bought 8 vintage dresses for $2.50 each at a goodwill sale (they’re normally $4.99).

  5. krissy: it helps to remember that i live in NYC. one of the most expensive cities on the planet. even vintage is expensive here. i most certainly wouldn’t pay that much for anything vintage, even at that store. i’m much more of a thrift store shopper (but even thrift stores here are more expensive than elsewhere). anyway…the things i got were like $5, $10, $15, etc., at least at the vintage store.

the other store is quite expensive. but i save my money for special pieces from time to time…and when they go on sale, so much the better.

  6. yargh! it’s so frustrating to be so far away and hear about all this sale goodness…! sigh!

  7. I am heading to Zachary’s Smile today! Yay for sales!
