That tape finish on the skirt looks beautiful. I love quality and nice details, but when I sew things myself I tend to be impatient to finish and to end up with pieces that I'm not satisfied with. I am going to make an effort to take more time and to finish things properly, which I think will make me enjoy the whole process more.

Hi :)

I'm always reading your posts but I never really said something. I study architecture but I like fashion and I like to sew and to "diy" as hobbies. And I felt like you were talking directly to me *lol* I like to sew but I'm not very patient and I always end up doing it over and over and over again because I took the short cut on the first time. At least I'm very patient when it comes to my architectural drawings. But we can't be good on everything, can we? Hah! Have a great day, sweetie :)

amba: i think one can find good details on a budget, which is exactly what i was saying above. knowing what is good design and good construction can help you cut the chaff from the wheat as it were at discount stores, big box stores, and thrift stores (especially thrift stores!!!). if you educate yourself, you'll know when you're getting a deal on something lovely and designed well, with nice details, from ANYWHERE.

Yes, thanks for posting this! This is something I've been thinking about more and more. It's hard sometimes though, when you're on a budget - I can rarely buy the well-made stuff. I guess I tend to want to have options rather than just buying one nice piece of clothing. But I get so tired of looking like everyone else! Maybe this is where thrifting comes in?

Thank you for posting this. Very eloquent, and I agree with Bee about details being so important in knitting. Time to start applying this to my own meager sewing. I'm feeling guilty about fraying seams haha.

I agree completely with your plea for attention to the inner details! As a pretty serious knitter, I know that the making up of a garment is just as important as is the actual knitting of all the pieces. Why bother making, or buying, anything if the finishing is just a rushed job that's going to fall apart within a few wearings?

You've really inspired me to research and clarify my fashion aesthetic. You are absolutely fascinating!
