I must say, that second vintage cocktail dress is amazing! I've been looking for one like that for the opera but I can't manage to locate anything under $75. If you happen to fall across another one like that anytime soon, I'd be glad to pay you for it!

I'm jealous of your finds! You would love my little cocktail hat collection. Maybe one day I'll take pictures for my blog. Actually, here's a very old picture of one of my favorites:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v11/adrasteamoon/?action=view&current=P1010095.jpg
Whenever I wear them, which isn't very often, I get tons of compliments.
I just bought a scooter today, so I'm projecting lots of helmet hair for my future--perhaps hats will be my savior.

i love your hats! they are super cute! i also love nets... they double as disguises, which are great for being sneaky....
my favorite thrift store find, are a pair of vintage ferragamos, they are so well made, and survive city wear and tear.

I am completely envious of your ability to wear such hats. I love them, but they make me look like I have a melon head (I really need something with a brim, so that's what I tend to shop for now.) But, those are awesome, and I can't wait to see what you pair them with and how they show up in your wardrobe.

totally with you on the hats.
i wore one of those cocktail hats that looks like a headband in lieu of a veil at my wedding and i just bought a few more on ebay a couple of months ago. i plan on wearing them often this spring.

I fondly remember a black cocktail hat with little black birds with real feathers on it ,and a viel, often worn in my teens(including to a Public Image Limited concert). I got rid of it in a huge de-cutter before I was married. I actually think of it often.

I've been wanting to start a collection of hats--a very conscious decision to collect them in a way that I do very little else because I am usually very anti-clutter, anti-stash (which, believe me, is a habit that is under assault with all of my sewing lately). But hats, *especially* frippery, feminine hats with fur, feathers, veils, are just amazing in a way that other accessories often aren't for me (except maybe shoes.) I am inspired by your pictures and will be on the look out to start my collection soon.

I have been thinking about hats too! And Winona Ryder's character from Autumn In New York keeps popping into my head because the hats she character made struck the delicate balance between Now and Nostalgia. I remember the one which was supposed to resemble the "line of a woman's hip" fondly.
