krissyto be honest, it’s not one of my most favourite features of your blog. i much prefer seeing what you’re sewing, knitting, thrifting, coveting (if money was no object), etc. i do like your remixers of the week feature though. hmmm…i guess i’m just too a.d.d. to read through so much information about these people. seeing a few pictures of what they’re wearing is enough for me. i suppose i’m more “visual” that way…
that being said, if i had to pick one remixer i’d like to see featured it would be “he looks at my dick and then he says goddamn”. she has such fantastic style and has been my favourite since the very beginning of w.r.

triciakrissy:
i appreciate the input.
however, WR is my creation, a thing that takes up a HUGE part of my internet life, and i am humble enough to know it would be nothing if it weren’t for the interesting people who populate it. photographs are awesome, but they do not tell the whole story. and thus, the feature will march on, as long as people are willing to allow me to interview them and show them off.
i have a hard time just showing off things i have done or things i love only in my blog, like i know a lot of people do. lots of people show product off on their blog quite often and i just can’t do that willy nilly…it’s something i have to think about very hard before i post it. and as for things i am doing/have created, WR is one of them, so those posts about WR relate directly to me and the projects i am involved with, in my mind.
this blog is, in short, about everything that moves me, and everything i do, including and especially the WR project. so while these people may bore some, they move and fascinate me. and so, it will march on.

jenninewhat about becktress? she’s up to day 145 now…
July 2 2007 at 1:19 pm
triciathanks jennine!
i’ve actually asked her, and also “he looks at my dick and then he says goddamn” that krissy mentioned…the thing is, i can’t MAKE people send back answers or to commit to be interviewed. i ask them, sometimes they respond, sometimes they don’t.
if i can ask, and they’re willing, you’ll see an interview. stay tuned.

sarahTricia -
I don’t think I’ve commented before, but I’ve been checking your site daily for about a month now. I love wardrobe_remix! I haven’t posted there b/c I’ve been on fellowship this year and style has been the furthest thing from my mind! However, I’m starting to teach next year, and I am thinking I will start to post there this fall! So, I can’t really recommend anyone *yet* as most of my wardrobe_remix exposure comes from your remixers of the week. =) (Though I admit, a handful of remixers of the week have so inspired me that I’ve checked out their flickr feeds, their blogs, what have you).
I love remixers_revealed, please keep it! I read all of it - greedily! Maybe you could appeal to remixers for a thrifting tip or their favorite thrifting story? (and why? was it a bizarre experience, or a perfect score, etc?) Also, I like the “pick a favorite item that expresses your personality” but I do wish there was a “pick a favorite outfit.” I keep thinking, man, if this was me, there’s no way I could pick one item - but I could probably pick an outfit.
keep on truckin’ Tricia, this site is great inspiration!

stitchtowhereI really love this feature (& thank you for picking for w_rer of the week this past week! i’m still over the moon about it!) & do hope you keep it up! it’s really interesting to read the fashion philosophies and politics behind (or in tandem with) the aesthetics and to get a chance to read the unique voices that go along with the styles on w_r.
love your blog & really appreciate all the time that you put into it & w_r.
xoxo

MavenI dig this feature too, and I’d love to see some of the older remixers revealed–lorimarsha, graygoosie–basically anyone over 40. Not only do I like seeing their style, but I’d like to know what an extra decade or two (or whatever) does to one’s personal style. Actually that’s a good question for anyone–how has your style changed over the years, and why? Keep crankin–this is good stuff.
July 2 2007 at 4:39 pm
triciamaven: great suggestions! i want to see that too, and hear from people of all ages, really, if it be possible, over time.
July 2 2007 at 5:20 pm
AshleyI think it might be great to see a wider variety of alternating questions– many times I feel like the remixers revealed have similar views or inspirations or answers in regards to one particular question– so perhaps it’d be more engaging to have a larger variety of questions, but narrow them down to each particular remixer?
For example, you give each of them lovely taglines about their style– well, you could have a base question of “How has your love of pattern changed your style, how has it been incorporated,” etc. This obviously doesn’t apply to every person, but may give the readers and contributing remixers more variety in what they see. Or, I’d love to hear favorite anecdotes involving something they wore, stranger’s reactions, etc. Again, this seems like this would apply to only those with a more outgoing style, as opposed to someone who wears more tailored things.
It’d also be fun to hear their responses to things like, “Who would be your costumer in the cinematic retelling of your life?” or things that engage them otherwise. Give them a chance to play and interact with the questions more
I hope these suggestions make sense!

emily o.I really love the feature. It was fun to be interviewed, and its great, when I have the time, to read about everyone else you’ve interviewed! It makes everyone more alive, and three dimensional.

jenniferi think i’m with krissy, though a little less so. i do like the wardrobe remixer features, but it does sort of seem that they have taken over the content of your blog.
that said, i think i’d like to see alternating questions for each remixer, too. or, maybe if you only published the really pertinent or really interesting stuff they had to say. or maybe not. i’m not sure. sometimes i love the features and sometimes i don’t. like you said, though, it’s one of your creations (and people make that creation) so i totally understand why you’re going on with it.
i do love wardrobe remix! i don’t post there; my clothes are too boring. ha. i second all the suggestions of who i’d like to know more about, and i think i’d also like to know more about the guys of wardrobe remix. maybe you could allow certain willing and highly motivated remixers to interview themselves. or each other!

lessakeI love this w_r feature and would like to read more about memepunk, nemrešpobjećodutorka, Ivy Frozen, Jaana-Mari, k_allirhoe and lewis.samuel!!!

triciasarah: great suggestion on the thrifting questions…a lot of people are into secondhand in the community. not all, but a sizable portion, so it could work.
ashley: differing questions for each person *might* be good, i agree, but a.) takes time that i do not have at this juncture, thus the questions must be more broad, instead of intensely focused. and b.) it would take knowing them better to customize each set of questions, and as i don’t know many of them well beforehand, that would be exceedingly difficult. i do like the idea of “costumer in the retelling” however!
jennifer: WR is a big part of my life, it’s a part of many projects i have going online and offline. it’s increasingly taking up a larger portion of my life as the group grows. my blog is a reflection of my life and who i am, like i said to another commenter. if this feature is allegedly “taking over”, so be it. i actually don’t think it is taking over at all…i am just adding to what’s already here. again, can’t please everyone, and i don’t think i ever will!
i am who i am, and my blog is what it is.
if you don’t like someone featured, that’s fine, and actually, expected. the people featured are individuals. some have more to say than others. some speak english better than others! diversity makes difference.
also, who decides what’s “interesting” or “pertinent” enough to post? i post what they give me, and i think it’s all valid. you, or others might not think it’s “interesting” or that i should have edited it somehow, but i think that’s going too far. what’s interesting to you will likely differ from what’s interesting to another. i won’t edit what they tell me (beyond perhaps spelling or grammar in a very minor way), because those are their words. if try i edit them to please myself or someone else, it is not the words or message that person wants to convey, it’s something else that may not be true for that person. see what i mean?
i am constantly looking for men/guys…there are not many of them who regularly post. but i am looking and do have a few on my list. it helps when a guy has a body of photos to choose from over time. again, not many of those exist. if you know of some, feel free to suggest! it’s a big group and i am only human and while i look very hard, i miss things and people all the time.
i’d like to be the one interviewing WR’s, since it’s my group, to retain some control over this thing…but i am very willing to hear good soild intelligent suggestions for questions that would be of interest and answerable by a diverse group of people.
July 2 2007 at 7:31 pm
kwugirlI’ve known about WR for a really long time, but I’ve always felt a bit intimidated by the sheer size of the group! Which is getting bigger every day! Which is great, but I’m the type that spends a lot of time going into the archives of a blog to read previous post if I only recently discovered it and decided that I really liked it. So, for me, the remixers revealed posts are a manageable way to enter the world of WR.

give_a_hootI would like to see these WR revealed- nemrešpobjećodutorka and stitchtowhere!
Thanks tricia, for all the work you do to make WR possible!

sarahhey tricia -
sorry to double-dip! Just one more WR/RR question. Would you ever consider having a feature here on on the WR flickr community where remixers could weigh in on how various pieces of an individual’s wardrobe could be put together? Say, a remixer had a few new pieces they’d just added to their wardrobe, (let’s call them X, Y, and Z?), wouldn’t it be great to get all these stylish folks’ input and ideas about pairings and outfits that could be built around these new pieces?
just a thought… =) thanks again for all you do!

SandDancerI’ve only just joined WR but have been reading your blog for a while and have really enjoyed the Revealed feature.
Someone else commented on an earlier post about how people reconcile environmental/ethical issues with their love of clothes and I think this might make an interesting question.

ElaineWhat Maven said about older ‘mixers - I intend to dip my toe when I reach the ripe old age of 50
I love WR - it is my first port of call most mornings before I get dressed, I browse with my first cuppa. Love the philosophy, love the reality - WR is something you don’t get in the mainstream media; real bods, real personalities, something to aspire to, joy, delight for the eye. Love the interviews!
Thank you.
