people and their shoes

it’s an old adage that an individual’s shoes speak volumes about their personality and station in life. being a shoe lover and fascinated with the idiosyncratic expression of personal style, i must admit i sneak a look at the shoes of almost everyone i encounter.

norwegian photographer ellen ugelstad seems to have taken the aforementioned adage to heart with this collection of photos of people’s faces, paired with their shoes, taken in san francisco:

    I love this very much. My shoe obsession definitely extends to surrepetitiously checking out the footwear of everyone around me, this is so wonderful.

    [...] this collection of photos of people and their breakfasts (by photographer john huck) is almost as fascinating as photos of people and their shoes. i love how varied the breakfasts are, just like the people. and i love how the soft morning light comes through in all the shots (sometimes in a subtile way), and how people really do look like they’ve just risen. our faces say so much about who were and the state of mind and body we are currently in. also: people really love coffee.
