this and that

granny's coming along

what is it about cats and quilts?

garter patch throw

how did almost another month slip by without me posting anything?

whoopsie.

oh well!

i’ve been busy…amongst other things, i have mostly rabidly working on what you see above:

-a granny square blanket using scraps from my yarn stash (will probably go on our bed, we shall see), edged with white…

-a garter patch throw blanket, also using yarn from my stash (i have a LOT of scraps, ok? it’s pretty extreme!)…

-and seen in the center, a liberated “log cabin” (very loosely defined!) quilt, a la gwen marston, using all solids.

the patchwork work mostly gets done during the day (to take advantage of the daylight coming into my studio), and the knitting and crocheting fills many of my nights. i may start doing more patchwork stuff at night, as i now have a wonderful set of powerful tracklights in the studio, thanks to a local electrician.

i’ve been checking into the interwebs daily, but mostly, i’m just continuing to take a rest and i’m going through a period where i am mostly observing, rather than doing much contributing. i want to come back, but at the same time, i feel like i still need and want this time to step back, to just be in the background for a while, whilst i figure everything out.

  1. I love all of these. They are going to be adorable! Starting a hand stitched quilt is on my to-do list. :)

  2. erin: thanks! just to be clear, the quilt is machine pieced…not hand sewn/pieced (i.e. it’s not done with a needle and thread). but doing one that way would be a cool challenge for sure!

  3. WOW. The log cabin looks amazing!

  4. I adore that quilt! Your pictures always make me happy!

  5. Oh how I love seeing your current projects, and the colours, oh the colours.

  6. why hello! these are great projects…but i have to say, i love pictures of cats when they want to be included in the pic, but insist on looking annoyed, it’s so cute.

  7. These are all quite lovely but I especially love the middle one (it could be because of that little cutie in there!)

  8. They are all very beautiful! How do you find the time to do all these together? :)

  9. The1015lab: i do a little on each every day or so. like, building a few quilt squares or parts of quilt squares, one or two knitted rectangles, or a bunch of grannies. it’s piecemeal work, a little done here or there, over many, many months. i don’t foresee being done with any of them for months, either!

  10. gorgeous color inspiration, as always! i see you moved to CT — i lived in Stamford for 5 years and found some great little nooks and crannies, esp the thrift stores that aren’t too picked over. hope you enjoy exploring!

  11. oooh, i can’t wait to see how these turn out. i love all your bright colors. i think i want to take up quilting. thinking of you in the blog world <3

  13. Wow I’m loving the bright colours in your projects! Look forward to seeing them completed :)

  14. Beautiful projects, I think the feline person is differing on which one of you actually worked on the quilt….

  15. Hi Tricia, best of luck on getting your groove back. I have been checking you out since oh i dont know 2007 before I made a dramatic life changing move to Sao Paulo Brasil from Calgary Canada, for love. I am about to embark the good ship motherhood myself in about a month, and worry about holding onto my creativity, mainly finding the time and space etc just as you have described. Glad you are back in production and just wanted you to know that you are as interesting as ever to me.
