  1. Ooooof.

    Sorry, Tricia.

  2. Sheesh. Just goes to show you they do keep an eye to the style blogging world. :p

  3. Ahh no! That sucks Tricia. I’m not sure if there is anything you can do, but if it’s any consolation, I personally prefer WR to other personal style sites. It’s been my favourite since 2006 (when I discovered it) and will likely remain so, for as long as it keeps it’s all-inclusive attitude. I’m sure other WR fans will think the same.

  4. i’m so tired of this kind of thing. :(

  5. :| wtf. immitated, and not duplicated – dont they know!

is there such a generation gap in the interwebs already?!?!
arghhhh – well u got your genuine innovative start + no one can rip that off you!

    besos -xo.m

  6. How unoriginal :(
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” also unoriginal but I guess they thought your idea was so good they wanted to use it themselves?

  7. considered calling them on it? Maybe asking them to spotlight the original w_r alongside chictopia?

If nothing else, how cool is it that you’ve invented a word/phrase? C’mon, that’s awesome!

  8. wow, that’s awful! another reason teen vogue sucks.

  9. that sux! WTF?

  10. get in touch with them, please! let them know that they are treading on your toes. see what they’ll do for you.

  11. amelia: judging on how they have treated their own members (reprehensibly, apparently), i am convinced they will do basically nothing. they are a business with associated legal interests, w_r is basically just me (with two gals who help out when they can with moderating). david vs. goliath, so to speak.

  12. I’m with Amelia and Sarah. Tell them all about your original idea, the site etc. Propose a feature if you like.

  13. urgh! I’m sorry! :-(

  14. Ew. I think a well-worded letter to the right people may make a difference. After all, W_R is regularly mentioned in Bust Magazine!

  15. I know. The contest itself is a nice idea (I almost wanted to join) but the whole thing kind of irks me because of the name.

  16. hmm, actually, this seems to be more than a case of just unoriginality… given how huge the membership of W_R is, and how you are regularly published in Bust, it would seem there is a legit claim that people could be genuinely confused and mistakenly believe that you have some affiliation with the contest! i would def try to contact them somehow, for whatever it’s worth… hope you are well my dear!! xxx

  17. Ugh, that sucks.
I just got back to America after being in the Peace Corps and have been getting back into fashion blogs and what not. I was so confused when I saw this. To me, wardrobe_remix will always be your flickr group. :)

  18. Yet again another case of Chictopia gone rogue…Im glad I dont bother with their site anymore

  19. Oh, I’m sure they knew exactly where ‘WR’ comes from and used it because it’s already widely recognized. It’s not like a ‘hip’ (and I use that term very loosely) magazine like Teen Vogue wouldn’t keep an eye out on internet fashion/style blogs. It’s shady to say the least.

  20. Hate to say it but it’s what the fashion world does best: knock offs.

Hi Trish! I realize this is an old post, but whatever. Like you, I’ve been pretty inactive online lately. Life goes on. Hope you guys are doing well. Hi to Pete.
