bits and bobbins

pickin’ and grinnin’ (and later, cannin’)

pears

gnawing on a pilfered apple

peaches and apples

over the long weekend, our little family took a little roadtrip out to lyman orchards, in middletown, ct, to pick peaches, apples and pears. we bought many, many pounds of each, and very soon, we’re going to attempt to can some of them.

we also have a MOUNTAIN of cucumbers (not shown here) from our garden that need to be turned into relish and pickles.

we definitely have got our work cut out for us…haha!

anyone out there into canning? have any good recipes you’d care to share?

I want to forage more rosehips this summer from rugosa bushes that line one of our city’s most popular bike paths. I also want to try pickling radishes, as I had pickled radishes at a Bouchon restaurant recently and they were incredible!

  3. Am I being too creepy when I gush about how cute your girl is?

I’m sorry I’ve no canning recipes, but I’m thinking of all the delicious pies that can be made from your haul. :D
