polyvore play!

some time ago, i posed the question: polyvore, anyone?

since then, the site seems to have taken off…everyone and their mom seems to be using it. are you?

i haven’t been playing with it as much as i’d like…but when i do sit down and poke around, i play with the site and it’s offerings in an indulgent way, putting together ensembles that go with my own personal tastes and trends, rather that those that seem to be currently on offer in the fashion world at large. i guess one can expect that sort of thing from me…i’m ever the stubborn one. ha!

how are you using it, if you are? for illustrations on your blog? just playing around like moi? do tell.

i can’t abandon one of my first color combo loves, the classic complimentary paring of red and green. the addition of a dash of chartruse and some blues keep things interesting and in my opinion, steer things away from the inevitable christmas color commentary.

while orange (in most of it’s forms) is still my greatest love, i am starting to cultivate a new appreciation for electric blue. i think it’s especially lovely when paired with gray. and really, what isn’t lovely paired with gray? it’s a superb and subdued foil for all those great bright, eye-bleeding colors i can’t seem to be separated from.

i’ve always loved african fabric prints, regardless of whether they are chic at a given moment. (ethnic look, what?) it’s something about the vivid colors and unapologetically bold geometric patterns that has got me hooked for life.

I’m absolutely addicted. Since reading about it here at b & b, I’ve been using Polyvore to rethink my own wardrobe. What’s more, it’s helped me curb the urge to buy new threads — my 2008 challenge — and it’s given me inspiration for remixing my own duds.

I love polyvore! Like you I use it mostly to play around, dreaming of wearing dresses I definetly can’t afford!
I’ve signed up almost a year ago and lost all the stuff I saved because I didn’t sign back in for ages [computer problems],
they delete all your items if u don’t sign back in, but I have to say, after I reported this problem to polyvore, they were quite swift in answering my quiery and offered a solution … fairplay to them!

I love polyvore, I mostly use it for fun. I say it’s fun because its sort of like shopping except you get to put together fun outfits with no money. Like you, I love bright colors and its exciting to explore different color combos, with little effort. I like to make them and share them on my blog.

I, too, think blue and grey are wonderful together and I think the colour combo works with orange thrown into the mix! I use Polyvore mostly to chronicle my days as they pass and to remember what I did when; somewhat like a visual wardrobe diary.

Long time reader, first time replier here! I love polyvore and have been using it to create fantasy/wish outfits that I’d never have the guts or occasion to wear in my everyday life. I’ve created styles that are completely in opposition to my personal style, but that I am visually drawn to. Another neat thing that I’ve done a little bit is create fantasy rooms with furniture rather than fantasy outfits with clothes. I’ve also seen a lot of awesome collage art made with polyvore, but haven’t done it much myself. I love when people add nature photos and items like plants, or food, or record players that add to the atmosphere of the set.

I did have a middle-school cheerleader bitch me out on one of my sets for being “stuck in the olden days” and choosing “fugly” items. I was a little shocked!

okay. I admit up to this point I’ve resisted the trend to join polyvore (because my gosh–it’s not like I need to sign up for another, freakin’ internet application! rofl! :D), but your post changed my mind. haha. its just too tempting…
