an epic 4+ (closer to 6 with free-day planned bookends) days in austin, with a steady diet of late-nights, long days attending phenominal workshops and lectures, copious tacos, tequila, beer, BBQ, donuts, and QUILTS. rinse, repeat. about 20 of my fellow chicago modern quilt guild members attended along with me. i met some amazing quilters from across the country and world, and had a KICK ASS time. it was like an epic, week-long party! kind of sad that the party isn't happening in austin, texas, from here on out, but i am pretty psyched that the party will now be yearly (pasadena in 2016, savannah in 2017).
so happy there's a place for all of us modern quilt people to congregate and celebrate our movement en masse. much gratitude to all those over at the MQG who make these events happen...you are the best.
above are some quick and dirty impressions of some of the quilts that struck my eye and heart at quiltcon 2015. more photos (and some attributions) over at my instagram.
