we have been packing like FIENDS this weekend...more packing is to ensue today, oh yes. we figured we'd get as much work done on the weekends leading up to the actual moving day (next sunday) to keep last minute pack-age to a distinct minimum. one more week until we move! i can't wait.

i haven't been paying much attention to the spring 2008 fashion shows (which commenced this week in nyc). i just don't have the time right now...maybe in a month or so i'll be able to look/care. interestingly, i haven't had much interest in such in a few seasons. i catch snippets of such in others blogs and in WWD; nothing much i have spotted has not really made me tingle with excitement...yet. *shrug* also, so many others of you do the show coverage thing better/with more interest than i do...i'll leave it to you, you actual, factual fashion bloggers!

however, these things *are* on my mind:
-high waisted, wide leg jeans! i thought for sure said jeans would look awful on me, but i found a pair at old navy the weekend before last (GASP!!) and i do like the way they look on me. crazy! i think it's about the styling...as is the case with many a fashion item. i sort of want to wear them everyday and with everything. i'm sort of curious to try on more of such jeans. hrm!
-all sorts of creative projects i'd love to be working on, once i am settled in my new house/studio! i have in mind a passel of projects: sweaters i'd love to knit, dresses i'd like to draft and sew, needlepoint projects, finishing the quilting of my quilt, home dec projects, and more and more and more. funny how one YEARNS to do what they cannot do most when it's impossible to do so! soon enough though. :)
-getting rid of stuff once we're moved over! i was thinking of following along with the apartment therapy fall home cure, to make our new house nic(er) and neat(er) than the one we're about to be moving out of.
-on that note, i found this list of 100 reasons to get rid of it, from marthastewart.com. might help some of you too, if you need to banish the clutter and ditch stuff (clothes, housewares, etc.!) you don't need, too!
-even after all these years and the tons of street fashion blogs that have popped up in the interim, hel-looks remains my favorite. there's something about the style daringness of the individuals, the relative diversity of folks featured, and the quality of the photography that taken together surpasses much of the rest. many those photographed have a creative, smart bent and a realness that feels hipper than the hipsters and super-rich socialites that populate some other street fashion blogs. is it a finnish thing? or the photographer themselves? or something else?
-i am lusting after this lens. hope to get it sometime this fall. not terribly expensive, either! yay. will use it to make pretty pictures.
-i have been a long time fan of artist krisatomic. i have mentioned her here before, a long while back. her drawings are girlish and lovely, and the photography she's been posting in her blog of late is supremely inspiring.
-an homage to the late tony wilson (of factory records, hacienda, and 24 hour party people fame) was recently on BBC radio 1's essential mix. and it's amazing. RIP, tony.
